Happy Friday!!! If you are new here, this is the day I share some of the frugal things I’ve done recently and then you share yours in the comments. the idea is to encourage and inspire each other—not to make anyone feel guilty.
Random Stuff for Your Leap Day
My brain is so full of stuff that I want to tell you and none of it is important. I wish I could have you over for some herbal tea and cookies. It would start a little awkward and quiet but then pretty soon we would be laughing tears down our faces as we shared the crazy things our kids said when they were toddlers. Read more
Kristen’s Living Room Makeover
Yesterday, I showed you Kristen’s School Room. Today I want to show you her living room. Just for a reminder, this is her color scheme and we’re trying to fit in a 1927 time period:
Oh the arches! This house just oozes with charm. You can see how it is adjacent to her sunroom and joined by a nice large cased opening. Can you just imagine seeing that darling school room from here? See the sitting area on the left with the 2 chairs and the side table? That’s where I imagine her piano will go. Read more
Kristen’s Homeschool Room Makeover
Kristen has been a long time GS reader and blogs over at Whole Hearted Mommy. Her family is adorable. Those cheeks on her kiddoes…I could kiss them all day. Kristen, how do you get anything done?
She let me do a before and after photoshop makeover of her sunroom. Her house was made in 1927 and has charming arched doorways and crown molding everywhere. Read more
Homemade Calzones
Calzones are my favorite to make, because you can tuck almost any combo of leftovers in them and have a portable meal to go. We especially like ham and cheddar; turkey, broccoli and swiss; pizza combos; and bbq. They are great for grabbing to eat at the soccer fields or for a picnic meal. My kids even like to pack leftover calzones for cold lunches. The whole thing can be done from the homemade dough, to the meal in hand in around 45 minutes, and most of that is wait time. Read more
If Valentines Reflected Real Life
I’ve been thinking about love a lot the last few days as we meandered through Valentine’s day, about the heartbreak of my teen years and wondering how I could protect my kids from some of that. I wouldn’t insulate them from all of life’s heartbreaks. That would be robbing them of crucial character development. I would, however, like to Read more
Coffman Cookies Recipe
I’m hiding in my room with 85% dark chocolate. All of my kids had the day off school and most requested a friend over or 2…or 3. That made 14 children at the house today and only 1 casualty, so far. Read more
Home Office and Fitness Room Nutrition Center
I’m having a lot of fun with the lazy way to remodeling (aka photoshop.) I have a couple of new clients who took advantage of the coupon code for a new room design, and while they are filling out their questionnaire, I’m finishing up the rest of my basement. I already showed you the office area Read more
Basement Family Room E-Design
I’ll never forget the first time I walked down the basement stairs in our home. There was a pair of mannequin legs leaning against the wall. I saw them out of the corner of my eye and screamed bloody murder before my brain could actually register what was happening. It was a good thing I didn’t know about the rats yet.
The basement was weird all over, Read more
Aaron’s House
My friend bought a new house down the street from us. His daughter is one of Heidi’s closest friends and there has been a lot of excitement at our house. I might be slightly more excited than anyone else, because I grew up with my 2 closest friends in walking distance. We went to school together, church together, and ended up at college together. It was a WONDERFUL way to grow up. I’ve wanted that for my kids and it’s finally starting to happen. Read more
