I guess its a little too late since the patch has already been sewn, but in my “House of No Sewers” we use Badge Magic. Its sticky and the patches never come off, and no sewing involved (which was a Godsend for us!). But your husband looks like he had fun, maybe he should sew the patches from now on? š
