It’s Giveaway Day!

It's giveaway day at SewMamaSew, and I'm so happy to be partcipating.  Thank you for popping over to check out my giveaway.  I hope you will stay awhile and poke around.  The main focus of this blog is saving money and it includes tasty recipes, sewing projects and lots of other goodies.  I have a very popular weekly newsletter that you can sign up for at www.groceryshrink.com  It is free and spam free too. Just for signing up I'll send you my favorite homemade cleaning recipes.  They are tried and true, will save you a bundle in cash and are healthy for your family too.

I had planned the lovely things I would make and giveaway, but life happened to me again.  So I hope you don't mind that I am giving away a sewing pattern that I made myself and sell over at my shop www.blesseddesigns.net/store  This pattern is our #1 seller and is fabulous for nursing, but just as lovely if you are not.  It includes pieces for a sleep bra, nightgown, cami, and tummy cover (which makes a nice curvy tube top too.)  It is sized for cups A-C, but has simple instructions to make a full bust adjustment for our well-blessed mamas.  It is soft with no hardware, but the fabric is designed to cradle you like an underwire.  It is a printed pattern with full size pieces on large heavy paper.

To enter, leave a comment. I'd love to hear a frugal thing you do or an area you wish you could cut back.  I will choose a winner on Sunday night at 8pm by random number generator and notify her by email.  Good luck!  I hope you win.

I’d love to win this pattern! As far as cutting back, in all honesty it’s the paper towels that get me. I swear I’m not gonna use them, but I still do. I am SO hooked. I know, and I AM ashamed. I have cut back, but not enough. And those darn Clorox wipes for cleaning. I’ve got to give them up!

I was so excited to see that you are offering this pattern as I was just admiring it on the Blessed Designs site. I would like to make this pattern, But we just finished Financial Peace and it is not in our budget. To live more frugally I make our bread and baby food, breast feed, hang our clothes on the clothes line, plant a vegetable garden, Shop lost leaders, reduced produce, look for sales, price match and use no name brands. My husband takes the wire from the garbage at work strips it and sells the copper. I joined Grocery Shrink and Blessed Designs, Sew and knit any clothing we need or shop at yard sales. I would like to make some nursing bras as mine are wearing thin. Last week I made the Florinda Maternity skirt by cutting a denim dress I bought at a yard sale for $1.00. And making the panel with a leftover fabric someone gave me.

I love to make my own jams and jellies and also like to can other food items. It saves a whole lot of money when I can just get peaches on a great sale and can them myself. I have also discovered how to can beans (like pintos and black beans), which really cuts down on cook time and is great for food storage!

I’m learning a lot about being frugal with food. Once a week, I make homemade focaccia bread (recipe on Culinate); then add a salad and either a simple pasta or a soup. Literally this costs pennies to make, and the kids and husband love this meal.

A frugal thing I do is to buy big containers of canned fruit and make individual fruit cups in Tupperware. It saves a bunch of money !

How did you know I’ve been searching for a pattern just like the one you’re giving away. I’m not joking. I’m one of those well blessed mamas that you were talking about. I can’t sleep without wearing some sort of support, but do you think there are patterns out there for that? Nope! I’m glad I came across this one! *fingers crossed that I win* One frugal thing I do is to buy our meal stuff in bulk and divide it up at home. That way I can make portions appropriate for my family and not have a ton of leftovers that no one wants to eat and get thrown in the garbage.

I am so frugal that I’m cheap, and my blog is called Thrifty Mom πŸ™‚ I use coupons combined with sales for groceries or Wal Mart (they’re good for stuff that never goes on sale). I don’t pay retail for books, either I get it from the library or ebay. Our large collection of books is mostly from the thrift store. The biggest thing though, is that I just don’t buy things I don’t need. Our cars are used but paid off, and that is a big bonus!

Awesome giveaway! Its not hard for me to be frugal since I’m dirt poor! But I try and shop at the local save-a-lot, in combination with my local farmers market for fresh fruits and veggies. Wayyyy cheaper than the hoity toity super markets. I also like to ride my bike to work since I live a couple of miles away!

What a very cool blog you have – I’m signing up for your newsletter! One of my favorite frugal things we did today (and every Saturday until November) – we went to the local Farmer’s Market. When I buy a lot of fresh produce, I cook from scratch, which saves a lot of grocery dollars. My daughter goes with me and we stop by the library after, which is down the block, and that keeps me out of the bookstore! πŸ™‚

Hello! One way we save money is by utilizing the local public library. The access to books, movies, and music saves money and space in our home!

  12. Rachelle says:

This pattern is wonderful, I hope I win it and can start making these for me and my friends. I want to be more frugal and shop savier. I was cutting coupons but quickly got overwhelmed with trying to use them to get the best deal. I try to use my Entertainment or Passport card when we go out to save on the cost of eating out. (Although eating at home would of course be the cheaper and healthier choice.)

What a wonderful pattern! A frugal thing I do is cleaning with vinegar, lemon, baking soda and newspaper. It costs much less, and goes much further than conventional cleaners! Thanks for the chance!

  14. mub says:

I’ve been trying to wash most of our laundry on 30* (the lowest setting our washer will go- when it dies I’m getting one that will do COLD!). I’m looking forward to browsing through your blog a little bit because grocery spending is a big place I’d like to cut back on.

  15. Stacy says:

I love this pattern and I love your blog! We are frugal by not buying boxed meals, try to buy our food in bulk from the co-op, and make my own cleaning products.

  16. Deborah says:

Oh so lovely! I hope I win too πŸ™‚ I’m due in August and would make great use of this pattern! Thanks for hosting a giveaway!

  17. Deborah says:

Oops! Meant to say that we always have a garden full of veggies to be frugal πŸ™‚

  18. Tanya says:

Oh I wish I could back on how much we spend on groceries, it is crazy how much things have gone up!
