BBQ Meatball Mix

I love these meatballs!  They are super easy to make, and the hardest part is getting out all the spice jars.  With this mix, that problem is solved. The meatballs make great appetizers, a hearty main dish, and yummy meatball subs. Bake these quickly in the oven, then let them simmer in sauce in your crock pot until you need them.

Meatball Mix

1 cup Quick Oats

1/3 up Dry Milk

1/3 cup dry minced onion

1/2 tsp black pepper

1 tsp garlic powder

1 1/2 tsp chili powder

1 1/2 tsp salt

Store in a baggie in a cool dry place.  To use mix, combine 2 lb of ground beef or turkey with mix, 1 egg and 1 cup of water.  Mix well with clean hands or a mixer with a cookie dough paddle.  Drop by rounds onto baking sheets and bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes.  Transfer to a slow cooker, cover with favorite BBQ sauce and hold on low until ready to serve.

Homemade BBQ Sauce

2 cups ketchup

1 cup brown sugar

2 Tbs liquid smoke (optional)

1⁄2 tsp garlic salt

2 tsp onion powder

    Sounds yummy!
Can I prepare this without the powdered milk and just add real milk instead of the water (1 cup??) when it’s time to prepare for cooking?
    Thanks

I made them today, changing a couple of things (half beef/half pork, omitted the salt and the powdered milk, added a cup of milk instead of the water, added more oat because the mixture was too soft, and put them directly in the crock pot, on low for 7 hours, with half the amount of BBQ sauce). They are really good!!!! It’s a keeper.i

@Isabelle. Thanks for the feedback! It’s nice to know they can cook right in the crock pot. That’s a time saver :). Y
